Steps to Apply

SSOC’s application process is designed to be clear, supportive, and respectful of your time. Below are the steps to get started and move forward with confidence.

1. Submit a Program Interest Form

Start by completing the SSOC Program Interest Form. This lets us know you're interested and helps us begin the process.

2. Receive a Follow-Up Call

An SSOC staff member will contact you by phone within two business days to schedule your attendance at an upcoming information session.

Information Sessions are held weekly

  • Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m.

  • Thursdays at 10:00 a.m.

3. Attend an Information Session

At the session, you’ll learn about:

  • Program requirements and expectations

  • Job opportunities with our employer partners

At the end of the session, you’ll schedule a one-on-one intake appointment with SSOC staff.

4. Complete Your Intake Assessment

During your intake session, SSOC staff will:

  • Help match you with employment opportunities that align with your interests and goals

  • Conduct a soft background check to support job placement and identify the best fit

  • Confirm your eligibility

Please bring documents that verify your work eligibility, such as:

  • Social Security card

  • State ID or driver’s license

  • Birth certificate

  • Any other relevant documentation

5. Attend Orientation Session

Orientation is the final step before officially starting the program. It’s held on Fridays, and the program begins the following Monday.

During orientation, SSOC staff will:

  • Review program ground rules and expectations

  • Share key handouts and materials

  • Distribute RTA passes

  • Confirm that all required I-9 employment documents are on file

SSOC will also submit an official background check through HireRight. This is a paid service that we offer at no cost to you. The results belong to you—we do not keep a copy.

If the report shows something that affects your eligibility or includes an error, SSOC staff can refer you to trusted legal services that may offer expungement support, if applicable.

This step is part of the program’s requirements, and we’re here to support you through it.
